Smoke Free Barnsley is a campaign to:
- help employers to make their workplaces smokefree. Legislation is due in 2007 but why wait? We want to make people more aware of the health and safety issues involved and help them to take action ahead of the 2007 deadline.
- increase the number of smokefree workplaces and public places – voluntarily and as quickly as possible
- show that there is huge public demand for smokefree workplaces and public places - to encourage employers and owners to make their premises smokefree
- support smokers who would like give up with advice and information about where to get help
It is supported by an alliance of organisations across the borough and reflects the work that is taking place nationally in the run up to becoming smoke free. Partners include, Barnsley Primary Care Trust, NHS stop smoking services Barnsley Chamber of Commerce, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Fit for the Future.
