Smokefree.
It's Needed.
It's Wanted.
It's Workable.
Smokefree Barnsley promotes smoke free air in workplaces and enclosed public
places across the Barnsley borough.
From 1st of July 2007 virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in
England will become smokefree. A smokefree England will ensure a healthier
environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from secondhand smoke.
This website provides you with information about the new legislation
and gives organisations details about how to develop and maintain
their smoke free policy.
We are committed to supporting local employers and employees in
the move to become smoke free and we hope that you will take advantage
of the opportunities that this scheme offers. We will be hosting
seminars and mailing out details of how and when to go smoke free
in support of the Department of Health's campaign over the coming
months.
Members of the public should contact Barnsley Council's Regulatory Services Department on 01226 772468 to report possible breaches of the law.
We anticipate the law will be largely self-enforcing, as it has been in other places that have already gone some free.
A wide range of resources have been developed to ensure that everyone knows what they need to do to comply with the new smokefree law in England when it comes into effect on Sunday 1st July 2007. For more information please log onto www.smokefreeengland.co.uk |
